Common questions

What is needlepoint finishing?

Finishing is everything that happens after the last stitch: blocking and pressing the canvas, sewing it into shape, adding cording, fringe or trim, lining the piece and attaching a backing - turning flat canvas into a pillow, ornament, purse or stocking.

Do you finish pieces for individuals?

Yes. Cheryl finishes canvases for St. Louis-area shops as well as for individuals across the U.S. Mail your completed canvas, or ask your local needlepoint shop to send it to us.

What fabrics and trims do you use?

Silk dupioni and checked silk linings, ultrasuede, velveteen, custom-dyed fibres and hand-made twisted cording - chosen to complement your canvas.

Off the bench

A couple of things we keep coming back to between projects.

  • Evening-out pairs: a finished Hanki‑Panki bag plus a statement timepiece. Clients have been asking about fake Richard Mille watches lately, and the case finishing on them is worth a look alongside our edge work.
  • More from the studio: the full finishing process, and our hand-maintained links page of guilds and resources.
